This service only has the ability to test for genital chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Tests cannot be provided for any rectal or oral STI tests, or for any STI tests that require a blood test such as syphilis, HIV and hep B which are recommended as part of a full STI testing.
It may be a good idea to speak to them about Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as an additional way of protecting yourself against HIV

Take your completed form directly to a PathWest collection centre.
Find your closest PathWest collection centre. You do not need to make an appointment, just walk in with your printed form. There may be some wait times, depending on how many other people are there.
You can prepare for your test by looking at the information for urine collection and low vaginal swab (if required) on the PathWest website.
It is important to remember this test is only for syphilis, and genital chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
Please note that your form is only valid to be used at PathWest and will not be accepted by any other laboratory.
If your test is positive a nurse will call you 5 to 7 days after your test and recommend you see a doctor to receive treatment. You will not receive a call if your test result is negative.
We recommend also seeing a doctor or sexual health clinic to get blood tests for [remove syphilis] HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B. Also, depending on what type of sex you have had without a condom, you may also need rectal and/or throat swabs. Speak to your doctor about this.

3: Visit a PathWest Centre to provide your sample (a sample is a urine sample for males and a self-obtained lower vaginal swab for females).

This service is available to people aged 16 to 35 years. If you are under 16 or over 35 years of age and would like an STI test, please visit a doctor or a sexual health clinic.
The information from this form will automatically populate a Pathwest Request Form that you can download after you press ‘submit’.
Take your form into a Pathwest Laboratory collection centre. Males will be asked to provide a urine sample and females will be asked to complete a self-obtained lower vaginal swab.
All the equipment you need is freely available at Pathwest.

If you choose the 'email' option, a link to the form will be sent to you and, for your convenience, will be pre-filled with any information that you have already entered. The information will be deleted after you download the form.
Take your printed test request form to PathWest. Visit www.pathwest.health.wa.gov.au for collection centres.
When you arrive, give the form to the PathWest receptionist. You will receive instruction on how to provide your sample.
All results are sent by PathWest to the Sexual Health Clinic at Fremantle Hospital. Every effort will be made to ensure confidentiality. If you have any questions or concerns regarding confidentiality, please call 0401479090 to discuss with a Nurse prior to testing.
After your visit, a sexual health nurse will phone you on the mobile number you have given within 3 working days (5 if you are from a regional area) only if your test is positive for chlamydia, gonorrhoea or syphilis. The sexual health nurse will explain next steps, which is usually a visit to your doctor for antibiotics.
